Product Description

Product Overview

The EATON PL9-C2-2 is a two-pole miniature circuit breaker designed for precise protection of low-current circuits in low-voltage AC distribution systems. As part of the Eaton xPole PL9 series, this breaker provides reliable thermal-magnetic protection against overload and short-circuit faults in control circuits, distribution panels, and automation equipment.

The device is rated for 2 A with a C-curve tripping characteristic, making it suitable for circuits that may experience moderate inrush currents during startup. Typical applications include protection of PLC I/O circuits, control transformers, lighting circuits, and auxiliary equipment in industrial control cabinets.

The compact DIN-rail design allows easy installation inside distribution boards or electrical control panels while maintaining high reliability and mechanical durability. With a typical breaking capacity of up to 6 kA, the breaker can safely interrupt fault currents commonly encountered in low-voltage power systems.

Because of its standardized form factor and compliance with IEC safety standards, the PL9-C2-2 is widely used in industrial automation, building electrical systems, and telecommunications infrastructure where stable branch circuit protection is required.

Key Functions

Overload Protection

The integrated thermal release mechanism continuously monitors current flow. If the current exceeds the rated value for an extended period, the breaker trips automatically to prevent overheating of cables and electrical equipment.

Instantaneous Short-Circuit Protection

A magnetic trip element reacts immediately to high fault currents. This fast response isolates the circuit quickly and protects connected devices from severe electrical damage.

C-Curve Tripping Characteristic

The C-type trip curve allows the breaker to handle moderate inrush currents without nuisance tripping. This makes it suitable for inductive loads such as small motors, relays, and transformers.

Compact Modular Design

The two-module form factor mounts directly on a 35 mm DIN rail. This standardized design allows easy integration into electrical distribution boards and industrial control cabinets.

High Mechanical Durability

The breaker supports thousands of switching operations and long-term service life, making it suitable for frequently operated control circuits.

Application Scenarios

Industrial Automation Control Panels

Control cabinets containing PLCs, relays, sensors, and solenoid valves require low-current protection for signal and control circuits. The breaker isolates faults without affecting the entire panel.

Building Electrical Distribution

Lighting circuits, control wiring, and auxiliary electrical equipment in residential and commercial buildings benefit from reliable branch circuit protection.

Telecommunications and IT Infrastructure

Power distribution units and UPS branch circuits often require low-current protective devices to safeguard communication equipment and monitoring systems.

Machine Control Systems

Packaging machines, conveyors, and automated production equipment use dedicated breakers to protect small control circuits and instrumentation devices from electrical faults.
