Product Description

Product Overview

The EATON PL9-C20-2 is a two-pole miniature circuit breaker designed for reliable overload and short-circuit protection in low-voltage AC distribution systems. Part of the Eaton xPole PL9 series, the device uses a thermal-magnetic tripping mechanism to automatically disconnect circuits when abnormal current conditions occur. This ensures electrical safety and protects wiring, equipment, and control systems from damage.

With a nominal current rating of 20 A and a C-curve tripping characteristic, the breaker is suitable for circuits with moderate inrush currents, such as small motors, control transformers, and mixed electrical loads. The C-curve design allows normal startup currents to pass without nuisance tripping while still responding rapidly to fault conditions.

The compact two-module form factor enables easy installation in DIN-rail distribution boards, industrial control cabinets, and machine panels. Screw-clamp terminals support reliable connections with both solid and stranded conductors. Because of its standardized design and compliance with IEC safety requirements, the breaker is widely used in industrial automation cabinets, commercial electrical panels, and facility power distribution systems.

Key Functions

Overload Protection

The integrated thermal release mechanism detects sustained overcurrent conditions and disconnects the circuit before overheating occurs. This prevents damage to cables, power supplies, and electrical equipment.

Short-Circuit Protection

A magnetic instantaneous trip mechanism rapidly interrupts high fault currents. This fast response protects the installation and reduces the risk of electrical fires or equipment failure.

C-Curve Trip Characteristic

The C-curve allows the breaker to tolerate startup surges from motors or inductive loads while still maintaining reliable protection against severe faults.

Compact DIN-Rail Installation

The device mounts on standard 35 mm DIN rails, allowing quick integration into distribution panels and industrial control cabinets with minimal installation effort.

Clear Switching Status Indication

A mechanical ON/OFF toggle with position indicator allows technicians to quickly verify the breaker status during maintenance or commissioning procedures.

Application Scenarios

Industrial Control Panels

Automation cabinets for PLC systems, motor drives, and control power supplies require reliable circuit protection. The breaker isolates faults and protects sensitive control electronics.

Building Electrical Distribution

Commercial and residential distribution boards use the breaker to protect lighting circuits, socket outlets, and small power distribution branches.

Machine and Equipment Protection

Manufacturing machines often include dedicated protection for auxiliary circuits, sensors, and control transformers. The breaker prevents electrical faults from damaging equipment.

HVAC and Facility Systems

Heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning installations rely on dependable electrical protection for control circuits, pumps, and fan motors operating in building infrastructure.
