Product Description

Product Overview

The EATON PL9-C10-2-DC is a two-pole miniature circuit breaker designed for reliable protection of low-voltage DC distribution systems. As part of the Eaton xPole PL9 series, this breaker integrates thermal and magnetic tripping mechanisms to protect circuits from overload and short-circuit faults. It is commonly installed in industrial control panels, photovoltaic systems, and energy storage installations where stable DC circuit protection is required.

DC electrical systems require specialized protection because direct current does not naturally pass through zero during each cycle, making arc suppression more difficult than in AC circuits. The breaker includes a dedicated arc-extinguishing chamber that rapidly interrupts DC fault currents and prevents prolonged arcing that could damage equipment or wiring.

With a rated current of 10 A and a C-curve tripping characteristic, the device tolerates moderate inrush currents from inductive loads such as control transformers, DC motors, and power converters. Its compact DIN-rail mounting design allows efficient installation inside distribution cabinets and automation control panels.

Key Functions

Overload Protection

The integrated thermal release mechanism monitors continuous current flow. If the current exceeds the rated level for a sustained period, the breaker automatically disconnects the circuit to prevent overheating of cables and connected devices.

Short-Circuit Interruption

A magnetic trip mechanism reacts instantly when a severe fault current occurs. The rapid disconnection helps protect power supplies, converters, and other equipment from damage.

DC-Optimized Arc Suppression

Specialized arc-quenching technology enables safe interruption of direct-current faults, which are harder to extinguish than AC arcs due to the absence of natural current zero crossing.

Two-Pole Circuit Isolation

The dual-pole design allows simultaneous protection of both positive and negative conductors in a DC system, improving electrical safety and fault isolation.

Compact DIN-Rail Installation

The device snaps onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail, enabling quick installation and efficient space utilization in electrical distribution boards and industrial control cabinets.

Application Scenarios

Photovoltaic Solar Systems

In solar PV installations, DC breakers protect wiring between solar strings, combiner boxes, and inverters, ensuring safe operation during faults or maintenance.

Battery Energy Storage Systems

Energy storage installations rely on stable DC distribution between battery modules and power converters. The breaker isolates faults and protects charging and discharging circuits.

Industrial Automation Cabinets

Control cabinets often distribute DC power to PLCs, sensors, relays, and communication devices. The breaker prevents electrical faults from damaging sensitive automation equipment.

Telecommunications DC Power Networks

Telecom base stations and communication equipment typically operate on DC power systems. The breaker protects distribution circuits and maintains reliable power supply to critical infrastructure.
