Product Overview

The TRICONEX DI3361 is a Triple‑Modular‑Redundancy (TMR)‑oriented digital input module used within Tricon V9/V10/V11‑style Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) for capturing discrete‑status signals from field contacts, limit‑switches, pushbuttons, and relay‑contacts. Used in oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, and power‑generation installations, this module typically reads 16 or 32 channels of 24 V DC‑compatible digital inputs (dry or wet contacts fixed at 24 V nominal with 18–30 V DC tolerance) and converts them into TMR‑synchronization‑ready status bits for SIL‑rated Emergency Shutdown (ESD), Fire & Gas (F&G), and machinery‑protection logic.

Key Functions

TMR‑Compatible Digital Status Capture

The DI3361 feeds 16 or 32 isolated digital contacts into Tricon‑series voters, allowing each input to be processed in parallel by multiple safety‑processors before being merged into a unified logic‑state. This structure helps contain contact‑bounce, wiring‑hum, or grounding‑issues, avoiding nuisance false‑states that might otherwise trigger ESD or machinery‑trips. Engineers use this capability to build robust ESD‑pushbutton and gas‑detector modules in high‑hazard environments.

Fast and Deterministic Input Response

With response times typically in the 1–3 ms per‑channel range, the DI3361 can keep pace with fast‑acting safety devices such as emergency‑manual‑stations, turbine trip‑bay‑switches, and per‑bay interlock contacts. This speed ensures that an operator‑initiated E‑Stop or automatic protective signal reaches the safety logic within millisecond‑latency budgets, providing high‑confidence behaviour during critical events.

Flexible Contact Handling

The module supports both dry‑contact (hard‑contacts from relay or switch) and wet‑contact (24 V DC powered) digital inputs, letting systems standardise around one DI‑module type across mixed field‑device inventories. This simplifies wiring standards, reduces spare‑parts diversity, and eases commissioning when integrating legacy ESD‑fence panels or third‑party safety‑gear into Triconese‑style SIL‑loops.
