Product Overview

The RLC16-V111 200-570-101-015 is a relay expansion card designed for the Vibro-Meter VM600 machinery protection and condition monitoring system. The module provides 16 additional configurable relay outputs, allowing a VM600 rack to control external devices such as alarms, shutdown valves, or control signals when standard relay outputs from monitoring modules are insufficient.

In complex rotating machinery monitoring systems, multiple alarm and trip signals must be transmitted to plant equipment. While VM600 monitoring modules such as vibration protection cards typically include a limited number of relay outputs, the RLC16 card expands this capability by adding a bank of independent relays controlled by the system’s CPU module.

The module installs in the rear section of a VM600 rack, connecting directly to the system backplane for power and signal communication. Each relay provides change-over contacts (NO/NC/COM) accessible through screw-terminal connectors, enabling flexible wiring to external control circuits.

This Vibro-Meter relay card is commonly deployed in turbine protection systems, compressor monitoring systems, and large rotating equipment installations, where numerous alarm conditions must trigger reliable physical outputs to safety or control systems.

Key Functions

Relay Output Expansion

The module provides 16 independent SPDT relays, significantly increasing the number of alarm or control outputs available in a VM600 monitoring system. This allows more process conditions—such as vibration alarms, overspeed warnings, or shutdown signals—to be linked to physical outputs.

Flexible Contact Configuration

Each relay includes normally open (NO), normally closed (NC), and common (COM) terminals, enabling flexible integration with various plant control circuits. Engineers can configure relays for different control logic depending on system safety requirements.

Software-Controlled Relay Logic

The relays are driven by open-collector drivers under software control from the VM600 CPU modules. This enables programmable alarm logic, where relay activation is triggered by vibration thresholds, sensor faults, or other diagnostic events.

Configurable Safety Operation

Jumpers on the relay card allow the relays to be configured as normally energized (NE) or normally de-energized (NDE). This feature supports fail-safe system design for safety-critical industrial environments.

Reliable Industrial Switching

The relay design supports heavy industrial loads with ratings up to 250 VAC switching capability, ensuring reliable activation of alarms, trip systems, or interlocks connected to the machinery protection system.

Application Scenarios

Steam and Gas Turbine Protection

In turbine monitoring systems, vibration or shaft displacement alarms must activate shutdown valves, warning lights, or control system inputs. The relay card provides additional outputs to support complex alarm logic.

Compressor Monitoring in Oil & Gas Plants

Large compressors often require multiple alarm outputs for conditions such as bearing vibration, axial displacement, or temperature limits. The relay module allows these events to trigger independent protective actions.

Power Plant Rotating Equipment Monitoring

Power generation facilities rely on condition monitoring systems to protect turbines, generators, and pumps. The module ensures that critical alarm events are reliably transmitted to plant control systems or safety shutdown circuits.

Industrial Machinery Protection Systems

In steel mills, petrochemical plants, and heavy manufacturing facilities, the relay card is used to interface vibration monitoring systems with PLCs, DCS platforms, and safety interlock circuits.
