Description

The HIMA X-COM 01 (Part Number 985260000) is a high-integrity, safety-certified communication interface module built for the programmable electronic system (PES) HIMax. It serves as a secure, fault-tolerant gateway between HIMA safety controllers and external automation infrastructure, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) platforms, and third-party PLCs. This module handles standard and safety-related communication protocols over industrial Ethernet and fieldbus layers without degrading the core safety functions of the processor rack.

Architectural Design and System Integration

Secure Data Segregation

The X-COM 01 provides deterministic read/write segregation when bridging safety instrumented functions (SIF) with non-safety-critical systems. It safely runs HIMA’s proprietary safeethernet protocol alongside open-standard layers like Modbus TCP/IP, PROFIBUS DP-V1, and OPC UA. The integrated multi-layer firewall architecture blocks network broadcast storms and unauthorized write commands from propagating into the safety-critical backplane bus.

Redundancy and Baseplate Requirements

The module can be inserted into any standard HIMax baseplate slot, excluding slots reserved exclusively for system bus controllers. To complete physical connections, every X-COM 01 requires a companion X-CB 001 02 connector board (ordered separately). In high-availability configurations, dual X-COM 01 modules operate in a redundant layout with cross-channel diagnostics, managing bumpless fallback switches under 1 ms latency parameters if a physical communication link fractures.

Installation Constraints & Commissioning Rules

  • Connector Board Alignment: Prior to mounting the module, verify the alignment tabs of the corresponding X-CB 001 02 connector board inside the slot. Misalignment during insertion can damage the backplane structural pins.
  • Fieldbus Expansion Constraints: When the module is customized with internal fieldbus submodules, its designation advances to the X-COM 010 XY scheme. Fieldbus submodules must be factory-installed or configured strictly in accordance with HIMA-authorized service procedures to maintain SIL 3 certifications.
  • Firmware and OS Synchronization: Ensure that the Operating System (OS-Rev) and Software Revision (SW Rev) indices match the system project baseline defined inside the SIL-approved SILworX configuration tool. Mismatched communication baselines will reject system scheduling tokens and generate a system bus configuration fault.
